PHUKET CANCELS THE APRIL TO NOVEMBER ‘LOW SEASON’FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 20, 2009 LOCAL BUSINESS GROUPS RE-BRAND THE PERIOD AS ‘SUMMER SEASON’
Phuket, Thailand: A group of local hoteliers and businesses in Phuket, Thailand have “cancelled” Low Season – April 15 through November 1 – and are renaming the period more appropriately Summer Season to better reflect the fact that Phuket is one of the world’s top year-round vacation and second home destinations. “We’re going to have a bit of fun with this campaign which starts with ‘cancelling’ the Low Season,” says Nick Anthony, Managing Director of Indigo Real Estate, “and hopefully in the process expose to the world the fact that during summer (April-November), the period formerly known as the Low Season, Phuket has an abundance of delightful sunny weather. Cooling afternoon showers sometimes refresh the island and setup spectacular sunsets and it’s also a time of good value with lower occupancy, great deals on rates and generally a quieter island that hums with local festivals.” The six-month international public relations campaign and internet promotion launching Summer in Phuket also looks to counter negative media reports about the effects of the global economic downturn and internal Thailand political issues. On the heels of Phuket being named the number one luxury destination by the New York Times in January http://travel.nytimes.com/2009/01/11/travel/11phuket.html, the group is taking a proactive approach to promote Phuket and to support tourism. “We’re looking to change the incorrect perception of Low Season that the weather in Phuket is poor. Phuket is a great destination which also has enjoyable sunny weather right through the year,” commented Dominique Rongé, Executive Assistant Manager at The Chedi Phuket, one of the campaign’s major supporters. “We need to be proactive in delivering our positive message to our audiences that Phuket’s luxury market is thriving despite the world tailspin and that we’re open all year for business.” For further details about Summer in Phuket and to see bi-monthly good news stories about Phuket visit www.summerinphuket.com For media enquiries, please contact: Mr. Duane Lennie Tel: +66 86 948-6836 (Outside Thailand) Email: duane@indigore.com The Mangosteen Resort & Spa, Phuket’s most romantic Boutique Resort – reservation@mangosteen-phuket.com – Tel +66 (0) 76 289 399 4月16日 Phuket Resorts, Mangosteen Boutique ResortPhuket Resort for sale!
Songkran is a Thai traditional New Year which starts on April 13 every year and lasts for 3 days. Songkran is a Thai word which means "move" or "change place" as it is the day when the sun changes its position in the zodiac. It is also known as the "Water Festival" as people believe that water will wash away bad luck. The Mangosteen provides a water gun for you to joyfully sprinkle water. To take our beach bus to go to the beach is most fun on this day too! Of course you will get soaking wet! The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms are incredible. The Jacuzzi villas are amazing with an outdoor shower and Jacuzzi. The service was outstanding. They arranged local tours, gave good advice on shopping and other areas of interest. Arranged a free ride to a local restaurant instead of calling a taxi. The pool area is great and very relaxing. Representing the industry's managers and executives, Skål members meet at local, national and international level in an environment of friendship to discuss subjects of common interest. The first Club was founded in Paris in 1932 by travel trade managers who had been on an educational tour of Scandinavia and so the idea of professionals in travel and tourism working closely together in a spirit of friendship was born. The idea of professionalism and international friendship became immediately so popular that in l934, Skål achieved international status with the formation of the Association Internationale des Skål Clubs (A.I.S.C.), on the initiative of the first President of the Paris Skål Club and the man considered the "Father of Skål", Florimond Volckaert. The Association is now known worldwide as "Skål International". From that modest beginning, Skål now numbers almost 25,000 members in over 500 Clubs spread throughout more than 80 countries. As in other associations of professionals most Skål activities take place locally, but the movement also features National and Area Committees under the umbrella of Skål International, which has its permanent General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain. Skål International is governed by an Executive Committee of seven members, elected by member delegates to the General Assembly, which is held in conjunction with the World Congress. The General Secretariat is the management body. This five-day Congress is hosted by a different country each year, thus offering members and their companions the opportunity of observing, at first hand, the travel and tourism industry potential of other countries.
